STORY



From the prologue during the English game demo:

 Shang-Lo: a country ruled by murder and violence under the iron fist of
 dark lord Akkila-Orkhan.

 Having driven his own country into ruin and despair, Akkila-Orkhan now
 casts his covetous eyes on his neighboring countries.

 As his conquering shadow spread, one man rose up against this black
 tide.  His name was Kuan-Ti, and with the aid of the five greatest
 warriors and the one wisest mind in his realm, Kuan-Ti would fight to
 defend his people and lands.

 The battle begins...

 Character & Character Specific Commands

Characters are ordered according to their order during the character select screen. Their "English" names are listed first, followed by the Japanese names in parenthesis. Listed is a description of their Killer attack and then a listing of their character specific moves. Portor (Kan-U) -The barehanded big guy in blue and white clothes. *Killer Attack*: Flying Elbow Backbreaker After successful grab, press B or f+B or b+B, then A in midair -Note: Portor's charge attack can hit an enemy multiple times. -Portor's killer attack has him leap forward and then land with a flying elbow. Hits on the way up and down. -Doing a backbreaker move but not pressing the A button ender will cause Portor to release his enemy during midfall. -Backbreaker, like a normal throw, can be used to hit adjacent enemies. Kassar (Chou-Hi) -The dark skinned guy in a yellow shirt *Killer Attack*: Power Punch Bite After successful grab, press d+A Piledriver After successful grab, press B, then A in midair Aerial Suplex After successful grab, press f+B or b+B, then A in air Subutai (Chou-Un) -The guy in blue armor and a sword *Killer Attack*: Sword Uppercut Downward Thrust Press B, then A Flying Kick Press f+B or b+B, then A Sliding Upper Press d,uf+A or db,uf+A -Subutai's killer attack is a shoryuken with a sword ^_^ Has NO startup time. Goes straight up. -Sliding Upper is a Sword Uppercut with an added forward dash in the beginning. Causes fatality. Kadan (Kou-Chuu) -The old man with a bow *Killer Attack*: Bow Uppercut Midair Arrow Press B, then A Falling Dagger Press f+B or b+B, then A Arrow Rage Press A repeatedly Flip Toss After successful grab, press B, then A quickly Abaka (Gi-En) -The bald guy in green armor *Killer Attack*: Somersault Kick Headcrusher After successful grab, press B or f+B or b+B, then A in midair -Abaka's killer attack is a Flash kick -Doing a headcrusher but not pressing the A button ender will cause Abaka to release his enemy during midfall. -Headcrusher, like a normal throw, can be used to hit adjacent enemies. ITEMS :
There are many items in the game and all characters can pick them up and use them. Items can be found in chests, barrels, or from enemies. Items are separated into their respective categories: WEAPONS : These are weapons with special attributes and are used with the A button. Takes precedence over normal attacks but special attacks can still be used. All weapons except the knife, sai, axes, and hammers cause fatality. Weapons will be dropped when characters are hit or knocked down and will randomly disappear. Sword: Typical long sword. Causes knockback. Falchion: A short sword with thick end. Causes knockdown. Iten: Special long sword. Causes multihit and knockback. Knife: Short throwing knife. Sai: Short 3 pronged weapon. Causes knockback. Axe: Typical axe. Causes knockback. Battle Axe: Large axe. Causes knockback. Mace: A spiked mace. Causes knockback. Club: Spiked club. Causes knockback. Hammer: Long range with iron end. Causes knockback and stuns. Iron Hammer: Hammer with bigger iron end. Causes knockback and stuns. Sui: A short rounded club. Causes knockback. (Secret) Seikou: A medium length sword. Causes knockdown. (Secret) Shichisei: A rainbow glowing sword. Causes knockdown. (Secret) Hiryu: Special long sword. Causes knockback. (Secret) Kusanagi: Sword of flame and most powerful weapon in the game. Kills in 1-2 hits. Causes knockback. (Secret) These weapons only exist in the Japanese version: Uni Tonkachi: Looks and acts just like a mace. Daiengetsutou: Looks and acts just like a Falchion. Seirutou: Looks and acts just like a Falchion. -The location of secret items are listed in both Game Walkthrough and Secret sections. FOOD Food items are designed to replenish lost health. Also, if a food item can heal more than a player is injured, extra healing points are converted into score points. Scores listed are if they are eaten when at full health. Scroll 3000 Book 3000 Gold coin 5000 Treasure (small bag) 10000 Treasure (no bag) 15000 GAME WALKTHROUGH The game consists of 9 stages. As mentioned in the introduction section, this will be more of a list of stats for each stage and I'll leave most of the strategy to you, the player. I'll only mention strategy if it is relevant to do so. This is just a side-scrolling fighter. How much strategy could I give? English translated stage titles are listed first then the Japanese romanji version in parenthesis. At the end of each stage, Stage Completion, Time, and Vitality points are awarded to all players. The player who killed the boss gets an additional Victory bonus while the player who did the most boss damage gets the Special bonus.  If you begin the stage solo, you begin riding on a horse.  Otherwise
 everyone starts on foot.

 Stage 2- Battle on Hakubou Slope-Part 2  (Hakubouha no Tatakai-Ni) 
 
 Stage Boss:  Lhaze (Kakou-Ton)
 Stage Completion Bonus:  15000


 [ Bonus Stage 1 ]

 This is the first of two bonus stages.  In this bonus stage, 3 players
 are in an eating contest.  If there are less than 3 players, the other
 spots are filled by the CPU.  Should another player join in at this
 time, the bonus stage resets to the beginning for a fresh start.

 To win, roll the controller in 360 degrees as fast as you can and press
 A and B repeatedly.

Stage 3- New Field Region  (Shinyaiki)
 

 This stage is split into 2 parts, one long and one short.

 Stage Boss:  Taranis (Kyo-Cho)
 Stage Completion Bonus:  20000

 You will regain full health before beginning the second part.

 Stage Boss: Izia (Mei-Mei), Arika (Mei-Ya), San-Jin (Mei-Ling)
 Stage Completion Bonus:  12000

 Because these three bosses are women, you can't see the effects of a
 fatality.  However, the special bonus can still determine whether your
 attack would cause a fatality.


Stage 4- White River  (Hakuga)
Stage Boss: Atika (Sou-Jin) Stage Completion Bonus: 25000 Stage 5- Battle on Chousaka Slope (Chousakaha no Tatakai) Stage Boss: Baidu (Jun' U-Dou) Stage Completion Bonus: 15000 Stage 6- Chousaka Bridge (Chousakakyou) When you reach the screen with a sign pointing to a fork in the road in the background, Sugisugi (Kakou-On) will appear on a horse. He'll appear from one of 4 positions. Kill him before he can leave the screen and you'll get the Seikou sword. When you reach the boss, during the battle you'll see Yestai (Zhao-Ming) the dark colored muscle man. Kill him and you'll randomly get the rainbow bladed Shichisei. Stage Boss: Jerrek (Kakou-Ketsu), Dasadas (An-Mei) Stage Completion Bonus: 15000 [ Bonus Stage 2 ] The second of the two bonus stages. If you're playing solo, this is a typical 'break the objects' game. 20 wood statues of Akkila-Orkhan will fall from the top of the screen. Statues will eventually walk off the screen if left alone for too long and statues can take from 1-3 hits to destroy. If there is more than one player, this becomes a duel where players fight against each other. The last person standing wins.  Stage 7- Battle of Redwall-Part One  (Sekiheki no Tatakai-Ichi)


 Stage Boss:  Kublai-Dakan (Chou-Ryuu)
 Stage Completion Bonus:  25000

 Stage 8- Battle of Redwall-Part Two  (Sekiheki no Tatakai--Ni)
When you get into palace, just before the floor crumbles, you'll fight a large group of muscle men. Kill the dark skinned muscle man and he'll randomly drop the Kai club. Hit to the right of second pillar in boss room and a treasure chest will fall from the sky. Break it and you'll randomly find a Hiryu sword. Stage Boss: Kai'Bataar (Jo-Kou) Stage Completion Bonus: 15000 Stage 9- Hanayou Path (Hanayoumichi) The final stage is also split into 2 parts. Again 1 long, 1 short. At the beginning of the 2nd scene with the log fences, move to the upper left corner. Hit to your left and a treasure chest will fall out of the sky. In it is the flaming Kusanagi sword which will kill any enemy in 1-2 hits. You'll automatically drop it when you reach the bridge though so you can't breeze through the stage. T_T Stage Boss: Temujin-Khan (Ryo-Fu) Stage Completion Bonus: 80000 You will receive full energy before beginning the second part. Now, depending on which version of the game you're playing this scene will be very different. World version: You confront Akkila-Orkhan and is given a VERY short amount of time to defeat him. The stage ends whether you beat him in the time limit or not. Japanese version: Upon cornering Sou-Sou, you are given one of two choices: Kill (Korosu) or Release (Nigasu). If you choose to kill, you will proceed as if you were playing the US/World version. If you choose to release him, you will let Sou-Sou go and end the stage. Final Boss: Akkila-Orkhan (Sou-Sou) Stage Completion Bonus: 90000 Ending You're then given a final series of bonus points. They are awarded only to the player that beat the stage's boss. It takes the time from the stage time bonus and multiplies it with a new score multiplier. If you didn't kill Akkila-Orkhan (Sou-Sou) there is no Stage9b bonus. Time bonuses: Stg1 Stg2 Stg3 Stg4 Stg5 Stg6 Stg7 Stg8 Stg9a Stg9b sec.x 300 500 700 800 800 900 1000 1500 3000 4000 Then the player with the highest score gets a kiss ^_^ You then see one of 3 endings depending on what you did during the encounter with Akkila-Orkhan (Sou-Sou): Ending 1: Killed Akkila-Orkhan (Sou-Sou) With the defeat of Akkila-Orkhan, Kuan-Ti soon rebuilt his kingdom. With peace and prosperity restored to the land, he began a long and glorious reign which was remembered and celebrated for generations. GOOD ENDING Ending 2: Did not kill Akkila-Orkhan (Sou-Sou) Akkila-Orkhan soon returned and with help of his minions, he quickly conquered the country. Crushing any dissent in his iron fist. BAD ENDING Ending 3 (Japan only): Let Akkila-Orkhan (Sou-Sou) go Akkila-Orkhan returned to his country after the battle with Kuan-Ti's superior forces and the situation with the 3 countries... For now, peace has come to the land. However, it would also not continue for very long... AVERAGE ENDING After the ending, you see a small picture of your character (unless you got the bad ending) and are then treated to the credits, highlighted with screen captures of the finishing blows to each boss. SECRETS There are several secret weapons in the game and are listed here: Seikou Sword- A medium sword with average power. Has knockdown ability. Found in Stage 6. When you reach the screen with a sign pointing to a fork in the road in the background, Sugisugi (Kakou-On) will appear on a horse. He'll appear from one of 4 positions. Kill him before he can leave the screen. Shichisei Sword- A long sword with a rainbow blade. Has knockback. Found in Stage 6. When you reach the boss, during the battle you'll see Yestai (Zhao-Ming) the dark colored muscle man. Kill him and it will randomly appear. Kai Club- A club with a decorated blunt round end. Has knockback. Found in Stage 8. When you get into palace, just before the floor crumbles, you'll fight a large group of muscle men. Kill the dark skinned muscle man and he'll randomly drop the Kai club. Hiryu Sword- A long sword. Has knockback. Found in Stage 8. Hit to the right of second pillar in boss room and a treasure chest will fall from the sky. Break it and you'll randomly find a Hiryu sword. Kusanagi Sword- A long sword that becomes engulfed in blue flames when swung. Strongest sword in the game. Has knockback. Found in Stage 9. At the beginning of the 2nd scene with the log fences, move to the upper left corner. Hit to your left and a treasure chest will f
all out of the sky. In it is the flaming Kusanagi sword.
